(I'm mostly doing my updates from our LS site nowadays) Apologies for the lack of updates! Not that we fell off from the face of the earth and became inactive, but on the contrary we have been doing quite a number of activities, mostly ZNMs! Our members had been (and continuing to) diligently collect zenis to gather all the pops for a Tier 4.
Tonight, we actually tackled down our second Zeni Tier 4 Notorious Monster: Tyger. For many it is a first time fighting a Khimaira-type monster head-on (besides Besieged), but we were able to triumph over it without too much difficulty. Our three tanks stood strong and never fell in battle, most of the Fulminations were stunned by our focused Black mages, and many unfortunate rangers ended up eating dirt (we salute you!). Great job everyone and we will be tackling Sarameya soon!
We had not attempt new NMs as much these days, but an occasional Scylla and Oupire whenever we had an opportunity to. We were even lucky to be blessed with the rare drop Narigitsune from Oupire... without any TH whatsoever (woot!). We took a break from Fomors but that doesn't mean we forgot about it. In addition several of our members continue to progress though WotG, CoP and Nation Missions, keep it up and hope you all catch up to the latest content soon! Cheers!
Our Salvage runs are still ongoing but there's nothing new to announce unfortunately due to a lack of drops lately. Hopefully we will have some new completions soon! Congratulations to (in no particular order): - Fuyuu and Brayker on Aurum Cuirass/Guantlets
- Kalessa on Tyger's Tail and Legion Scutum
- Suichi on Aurum Sabatons
- Kalima and Althena on Enkidu's Leggings
- Diass and Souls on Oracle's Gloves
- Hiroe on Narigitsune
- Hiroe and Kalessa on Ebur Pigments
- Fuyuu and Rusefus on Naglering
- Ofelia on Enkidu's Subligar
- Rissa and Ofelia on Tomoe
- Diass on Cletine and Mekki Shakki
- and many more from lower ZNM tiers, Salvage, etc...

This Saturday, I led Reminis Linkshell into a series of battle-filled activities. It was a planned activity that spread throughout the entire day, with the intent to hunt some of the newer Wings of the Goddess NMs that were introduced in the latest update. The main focus for us was to defeat some of the Fomor Kings NMs. At our starting time 2pm Eastern time, we did not have enough people on yet given probably more than half our members are Pacific time. Not enough member for Fomors, we decided to try something of similar content that was running about in the past that we might probably be able to take on. With approximately 10 people, we decided to try Scylla, an NM in the Beaucedine Glacier [S] located close to Fei'yin. Given little to no experience other than what Wiki reported, we gathered ourselves by the tunnel where Scylla is within the hour. We had one pld, one war, two rdm/nin, a blu, blm, and various support jobs. A little low on the DD side but we were preparing heavily on the healing side to be safe. After clearing the spawns nearby, we pulled Scylla and immediately got drawn-in. We knew that it was coming although our attempt was to kite it due to its nasty TP moves. We knew that it could be kited as long as it is within a certain radius from its drawn-in spot... but I don't think we were able to get that distance right until after we ended the fight. Anyway, after a short while, we ended up straight tanking it. It wasn't really so bad until it started to use Hydro Wave, followed by a series of Aqua Cannons spammage. What ensued were people falling right away, mostly the mages when it turned. Even with the extra healers, by about 50%, it was starting to become unmanageable and too many were weakened as a result. It seemed that the Hydro Wave has some sort of partial hate reset, making it turn a lot towards the mages after the TP move spam; this was the biggest problem. We wiped near about 47%, but we did get a pretty good idea. Stuns were landing (including headbutts with partial stun procs) and there were no signs of resist buildup. I think this might be doable with a series of Blue mages headbutt spamming... maybe next time we can try that. The intimidation rate of Scylla wasn't too horrible unlike Biast or anything of that sort - or maybe it will get worse as its HP is lower? I don't know. After the wipe, we did have a few more people getting on - and we attempted to try Fomors. As luck would have it, we were minutes short of another JP group wiping the Fomors clean. They made it look like a piece of cake with their BLM army. Watching them at least gave us what to expect. I gave everyone a break and told them to resume in 4 hours later, the approximate respawn time of Fomors Kings. To kill time, some of us went to do ANNM. It's a little money-making activity we do on a regular basis in our Linkshell, and today we finally struck it rich with a Star Sapphire drop~ \o/ Later, we gathered by Buarainech spawn spot a little early - preparing for the respawn. We were mainly discussing strategies and short breaks while waiting for it to pop. Approximately 40+ minutes past window, Buarainech popped and we engaged very shortly. We had a very basic setup with 2 tanks, 2 red mages, 2 black mages, 2 rangers, 2 white mages, and a corsair. We spread throughout the room, and dealt damage at a steady pace. It was much slower unlike that JP alliance, but it was safe. With our rangers, we handled it's multiple two hours with Shadowbinds due to en-doom effect, a (good idea to point out btw Hika). About 45 minutes later it was dead and we were celebrating its victory! We had a lot of fun that we ended up deciding to take down Elatha after. Elatha was much easier and was faster when we took him down. We also had 2 more PLDs and one switched to a third BLM. We split up our black mages and rangers in each tunnel with the tanks on the center. Although Elatha was more of an annoyance due to its bindga and paralyzga, being able to stun it helped also - unlike Buarainech. The two hour was manageable. We didn't risk bringing a Thief for TH during either fights. No R/E drops though but it was a trial run for us to see if we can manage beating them. We will next time though. After all these fights, we ended our day with Salvage. I think a lot of people got more than they expected in terms of such long series of activities when joining our Linkshell, but there were no complaints; only cheers! (apologies for unedited pics)

(Also copied from LS site) I think many of us dread the days back when we worked through the CoP Missions, having dealt with the nasty Level Restrictions, pickup parties and what not. Some people unfortunately never had the luxury to do this with a static, or at least one that stuck through from beginning to end. Starting this week, Reminis hopes to give assistance to our members who still were left behind on these CoP missions, and help bring them up to speed by our veteran members. We will keep this going through the course of this week and next hoping to get everyone access to new areas. I hope we will be able to visit new places together to explore and hunt! This is the Linkshell where I hope to build strong bonds and not leave anyone behind who puts their efforts into moving forward together. It definitely brings back old memories for us veterans, how these fights differ then and now... I want to thank all those that helped tonight and their continue support, please keep the fun and support going! Remember guys, relive this moment as if it was your first, don't come here "just to help". It'll be more fun and memorable this way! :3

(Copied over from our LS page) Today, we present our Linkshell with a new theme activity. A fight against the sky god Genbu, but not just any typical fight. This activity was planned in advance to battle this god with a unique handicap set by us; no armor and accessories are allowed! Given the times have changed and Genbu has fallen from a high-end NM status, we created this handicap ourselves where the sky god actually has an advantage to give us a fun challenge. We knew we have the manpower to easily beat him, but it really wasn't as simple when we prepared ourselves with a party setup of actual tanks and mages. It sure would have been simple to just manaburn him down too, but it wouldn't have been as much fun when our tanks actually struggled and did a darn good job tanking Genbu with such restrictions as recast timers. We had a NIN/DRK, PLD/NIN and a RDM/NIN for tanking, 2x RDM for support, 3x BLM, THF, RNG, COR and BRD. We could've actually used a few WHMs for raise 3, but oh well! The fight was not so bad when we started out. We had our stun orders set and our tanks were able to hold hate steadily. Damage was a little slow due to the heavy resist from the spells the BLM casted without skill gear, and it was difficult to get TP for the melee and ranger due to the high defense of Genbu. To make matters more difficult, Kitone found some amusement fiddling with Collaborator on the tanks who were already struggling... haha. Throughout the first battle, it was fairly controlled until Genbu decided to snack on a tank or two. That eventually ended up in a kite-a-thon for the black mages but it wasn't anything new for them. Hikarino did a decent job too tanking and holding hate as RDM/NIN, and definitely has potential. In the end of the first fight, Genbu dropped us a shiny Aquarian Head Abjuration... The second run was a little more smooth and faster due to having some job changes in the alliance. Also we were a little tight on time due to Salvage coming up next on the agenda, so being able to wrap things up earlier on the next fight was a better idea.
All in all, we had a great time, got some needed drops, and hopefully we can do something similar for next time! Thanks Diass for providing the pops! We will try some new theme activity again soon! Naked Byakko? I dunno about that... but we might be crazy enough to someday.

Been doing a lot with my new LS and other stuff that I just didn't write much on this blog... You can check out the stuff I have done with our new LS on here though: http://www.reminis-ls.orgIt's a nice site I used Drupal to design with. Thanks Fufu for the theme modification. Feel free to comment on the site! Will write something sometime next week :D (edit sunday: working on a blog entry of our LS naked genbu run)

I can't believe what difference in fun factor it made, but wielding a Mjollnir with a kraken club really made me remember how fun it really is!

Ding 75 (well as of last friday)! :D
Now another job with a lot of skill-ups to finish due to level syncs and Campaigns ; ;
Last week I came up with a very interesting idea of starting a new Linkshell. It's really out of the blue, but it is something very ambitious that I felt very excited about and want to tackle on. I want to make a fun and entertaining Linkshell, with relaxed atmosphere similar to a Social shell, tackling endgame activities along the way as we grow. The idea came from reminiscing those old days in FFXI. In addition, I want to make the endgame activities fun, spicing things up occasionally, instead of the same old grind like having a second job. How? Adding unique objectives and restrictions for those fight where we used to struggle with in the old days are just an example.
Fun is the main focus, and I don't want to bog down people in this shell with rules, obligations and all that crap. It's gonna be a casual endgame shell for the casual people with jobs and family. As long as you get along with other members, like to be helpful and not grief other people, you're welcomed to stay. Feel free to participate any activities you want and not have to chase you down for it. You're welcomed to remain in other linkshells too and come when you feel like, and the only restriction you have to deal with is your other linkshell's conflict of interest.
The major point of the linkshell is both members and the officers will be driving events (activities), and be rewarded for their time in the linkshell doing these activities. I am not just talking about endgame content but even things like Merit/exp parties, Assault runs, Missions and Quests. In this way, members can be rewarded doing the things they enjoy doing casually as they spend time in the LS in other productive ways. I also came up with ideas how to make a lotting ranking system more interesting based on that idea... and try to find ways to avoid the loopholes when rank is involved in getting the best loot, or a lot of wasted drops because of point hoarding. I also plan to award participants when item drops are actually looted instead of flooring.
Eventually, I look forward to drive the Linkshell stronger by facing multitude of various challenges and getting the equipment needed, and moves onto newer activities as soon as we have the potential to... but for now I have quite a lot of work to do. But this is my current vision...

So there's been a few curious minds that wonder how I managed my multi-characters setup... (and the reason to the occasional ADD moments I may have). Well today, I will reveal the actual computer desk that I do my playing and all that in. Yep, I'm in my own little world when I sit down on this desk, it's like totally impossible to penetrate through to get my attention when I start playing. From the bottom left, you can see a glimpse of my office laptop. I don't use it for playing though, and I don't think people at work would like it if I installed any games on it. Above that is my TV, which sits on top of a printer stand, is where I occasionally watch while playing during night time. Now on the left side of my desk is my netbook Acer Aspire One. I love this little machine, and I was happy that this little gadget could run FFXI. The only thing I don't think I will ever get used to is the smaller keyboard though. Finally, the two monitors, keyboards and mice... yes, I actually have two computers. My main character in FFXI is played on my main machine in full-screen (left monitor). Usually, my main computer is where I install most of my PC Games. The secondary computer (monitor on the right) is pretty old and really couldn't handle any recently released games. I play in windowed mode on this computer, so that I can browse for information whenever I need to, chat via IM, or anything else I needed to do. Yap, that's my FFXI gaming setup. If you got any questions, feel free to ask. - Mood:geeky

The last few months had been very eventful in my life. To begin off, I will just list what I had done off the top of my head. I went on a few road trips around NY Upstate with friends, a Wine/Vineyard tour around Long Island, hiked through a few State Parks, visited sunrises on top of a mountain, watching fall foliage driving through the Adirondacks, went horseback riding (oh gawd... horrible experience), took Archery lessons (FUN!), going to the beach, almost went to a hot air balloon ride (couldn't get a date booked unfortunately, maybe next year) and a number of things I have never done in my lifetime thus far basically. I had a lot of fun and met some new friends along the way and got in touch with old friends. I also started taking more in charge of my life and took more responsibilities towards my future. Improving my health was a big thing on my list, and I've exercised almost daily and improved my life style in what I eat as well (Yay... dropped about 10 pounds~). Financially, I started to look for a home of my own, knowing nothing about Homebuying; taking first steps researching to looking at open houses. Didn't know anything about pre-approvals and mortgage in detail... and I spent a lot of time to familiarize myself all these things. It is overwhelming for someone like me who's been living off my Parents for so long, but heck... living in NYC is expensive. I had to look at my credits and all the finance stuff that my parents used to take care of. Finally, I also took a few lessons on how to cook from my mom, and the dishes she's made are extremely delicious on a regular basis. Granted that I haven't learned everything there is to it yet... but while I am still alive, I plan to continue learning. Oh by the way, as far as the current house hunting situation went, I almost got a closing but got outbid on a home I really liked in a very good area... >_< You can technically said that in the past few months, I "grew" up and stop being a kid anymore under my parent's protection. Then again, I'm not exactly young either... XD I am not going to lie that gaming is still a part of my life. I didn't stop gaming entirely since I quit back during the end of July, but I definitely cut back A LOT, meaning I actually spent days without touching a game and gone outdoors a lot. Sadly going out a lot took a huge plunge on my wallet. On bad weather days or certain nights when I need to relax, I did play games like Diablo 2 casually with a neighborhood friend (whenever he was around), as well as Warcraft 3. I also blew the dust on my Wii and bought a few new games for it to play casually, such as Sports Resort and Punch Out!!! Ahhh... My arm practically felt like it fell off playing too much Swordplay and boxing though, but it gave me quite a sweat. Just very recently, I got convinced by a certain someone *cough*midena*cough* to try out Aion, another MMORPG with a focus on PvPvE... it's quite fun actually but it's tough when a well-geared Player, group raid, or some high level randomly beats the crap out of you while you're grinding EXP. But this is what I signed up for, so it wasn't a complaint and look forward to some action myself when I am higher level. I am currently level 31 playing a Chanter. After a few things had settled, I finally decided to reactivate my account on FFXI about a week ago. Yeah, some of you already noticed I was on Caitsith. It is indeed me. I don't plan on making any major comeback to the game, it will just be casually coming on to play, help out and saying hellos. The game has changed and it seem like the population went downhill... it looks like either gamers went to other games like Aion or actually migrating to Casual gameplay. Anyway, I got a chance to really focus on my real life the past few months, and I don't plan on losing another few years of my life to another MMO like this again... not even FFXIV. I will definitely play it though, but the actual process to get off MMO addiction is priceless. Anyway I apologize for the senility within me talking. But this is just an update of how life has been the past months out of the game, in a nutshell. I will write again when I have the motivation to~ - Location:at home

I don't really have any comment, except just to confirm people's thoughts that I have indeed left FFXI.
Things are changing a lot in RL and I just don't have that dedication right now towards a MMO.
Take care everyone~ maybe I'll return someday, who knows.
I can be reached via AIM/MSN as usual. If you want to keep in touch, post your contacts in the comments (I'll keep such comment hidden from public if requested) - Mood:Gone
